Summer Filming Restrictions at Los Angeles County Beaches

On April 6, 2018, per the instruction of the Department of Beaches and Harbors, Film L.A. announced several filming limitations at various Los Angeles beaches. These limitations include:

  • All Los Angeles County owned and operated beaches will be off-limits for weekend filming from Sat., May 19 through Sun., Sept. 9. This applies to long weekends as well, including the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
  • Filming and still photography at Venice Beach’s Breakwater tower, as well as all Avenue towers (Ave. 18 through Ave. 26), will be restricted on both weekend and weekdays from Sat., May 19 through Sun., Sept. 9.
  • Filming and still photography at Zuma and Surfrider beaches will also be closed on both weekend and weekdays from Sat., May 19 through Sun., Sept. 9.

The Department of Beaches and Harbors will continue to review all requests for base-camping and crew parking at the Zuma Beach parking lot for weekday use only on a case-by-case basis, although the beach itself is closed to filming.
