Position Overview
Seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for a regular, full-time position in Burbank. This position plays a key role within the IT Quality Assurance Department. The incumbent will ensure that Quality Assurance Tests are performed on a daily basis and software is tested as required.
The candidate will require a strong quality assurance background with the ability to put Cast & Crew software through its paces and detect issues with the software from a customer point of view. The role also requires excellent communication skills (interpersonal, listening, written and oral), in order to work with other departments to convey requirements and problem areas with the software. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized, thorough with attention to detail and able to capture detailed software issue information and communicate it to others.
Primary Responsibilites
- Review system requirements, functional design, technical design specifications and other available information
- Develop test plans and test cases to support validation of design and technical specifications
- Write test cases in support of test requirements
- Develop test scripts for automated testing
- Generate Quality Assurance reports
- Execute scripted test cases
- Execute manual test cases
- Configure and maintain Test System environments
- Collect test data results from various sources including log files, tester output, system event monitors, databases and other software measurement tools
- Provide and report detailed evidence of software defect events
- Evaluate test results and provide recommendations to aid software development bug resolution
- Maintain automated and manual test scripts
- Integration of automated scipts with in house test systems
- Be able to work in a fast paced test environment
- Promote a Quality culture within Cast and Crew
Core Competencies
General IT Knowledge
- Ability to install and configure software applications, web services and databases
- Experience with batch files
- Experience with Linux shell commands
- Experience writing SQL queries for Oracle
- Experience with VBScript
- Knowledge of software configuration tools such as SVN
- Ability to interact and communicate with technical personnel
- Ability to translate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization
Testing
- Experience working as a QA Engineer in a Software Quality Assurance department
- Ability to develop Test Cases from User Stories
- Ability to review and understand technical specification documents
- Ability to use and run automated testing software, specifically QTP
- Ability to execute manual test cases
- Ability to find and report software issues accurately and in detail
- Ability to use software defect reporting software and follow software versioning processes
- Prior experience testing within an Agile software development team
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Software Quality Assurance experience
- 2-3 years of experience writing automated test cases in VBScript with QTP
- 1-2 years of experience working in an Agile Software Development team
- Experience testing Web Services, Java and Oracle technologies
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
